I am a writer, translator and doctoral researcher in the department of Gender Studies at Tampere University. Originally from the UK, I spent six years working in London before moving to Helsinki.
My academic research explores the effects of the mass exposure that social media gives to accounts of sexual violence, looking at themes including consciousness-raising, intersectionality, survivor narratives, and victim blaming.
I am also a Finnish to English literary translator, with experience working in fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books for agencies and publishers including Bonnier Rights Finland, Elina Ahlbäck Agency, and Aula & Co.
And I’m a freelance writer who has worked at Yle, BuzzFeed, and British GQ. I have written for Helsingin Sanomat, ThisisFINLAND, NewsMavens, Vice, Noisey, GQ, the New Statesman, the London Review of Books, What’s On Stage, City AM, and Just Opened London.
